Omri EDY

Omri EDY was born about 1780 in Mew York state, s/o Daniel EDY & Sarah JONES.  He had a brother Newbury EDY born abt 1781.  Omri died 21 April 1835 in Oakland twp, Brant County.  His wife's name was Margaret

• 1815:  living in Hawkesbury Ontario

• 1820: living in Brant County

• 7 children, according to Omri's petition for a land grant (as son of  a Loyalist)

• 1847: wife Margaret died at age 62 yrs + 3 months + 23 days, buried at Oakland Pioneer cemetery, Brant Co. 

• 1853: buried at Oakland Pioneer cemetery.  Tombstone says age 72 yrs + 9 months + 9 days

• he married Mary Ann SECORD on 17 Feb 1869 in Villa Nova, Townsend twp, d/o Daniel SECORD & Almira PEET

• Peter died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maurice Sharp [Brantford Expositor of 29 Dec 1931].  He is buried in Jerseyville cemetery with  his wife who died in 1925 [reg 36239-25].  Death reg is 36413-31 & it is almost totally illegible

  • Emma Loama Edy married Maurice SHARP.  They were in Ancaster twp in the 1901 census with 2 daughters, Mary (b. 1894) & Emma Albertha. (b. 1896)

  • Emma & Maurice also had twins Mabel Secord SHARP  & W. Edy SHARP born about 1903

  • Mabel Secord SHARP married Ira Barton VANSICKLE on 23 Sept 1925 in Carluke (marr reg 23211-25)

4. Benjamin EDY, b. 23 Nov 1849, d.  13 Aug 1926 at Echo Place, Brant Co

• he married (1) Edith Josephine WARNER

• he married (2) Lettie E. WALL on 7 March 1907 at Brantfod, d/o Mathew WALL & Alma BROWN

• 1901 census: Brantford

• 1902 - Edith died of cancer at age 47, buried at Greenwood cemetery in Brantford

• 1926: death reg 8662-26, myocarditis & nephritis, buried at Greenwood cemetery in Brantford

Herbert Ellsworth EDY, b. March 1875 at Oakland, d. 29 Aug 1929 at Brantford General Hospital.  Married to Emma Maude SCHULTZ on 16 Oct 1901 at Brantford.  Herbert was a druggist in Brantford in 1901, before becoming a physician in Toronto [1911 Toronto Directory].  In the 1911 census he was at 18 Maple in Brantford.

Mary Mabel EDY, b. 6 March 1878. Married Frank Edmond PARKER (a machinist)  in 1899 in Brantford

Alma Maud EDY, b. 8 OCt 1884 in Oakland, d. 18 Dec 1884 in Oakland.  Birth reg 1858-84.  Buried at Scotland Ont

Nellie Gertrude EDY, b. 2 March 1886.  Married William Beresford SHAW on 4 July 1910 at Fort William Ont.   Nellie was a resident of Hamilton at the time of her marriage and William as a printer, from Kenora.

 

5. Vivian Lomma EDY, b. abt 1852.  She married (1) Thomas WRIGHT (a farmer from Trafalgar twp., 1878) and (2) J.J. WILSON

Mary Margaret WRIGHT b. 11 Oct 1874 and d. 26 Nov 1953, married Jesse Omri TREANOR.  Mary is buried at Britannia United Church cemetery

• He married Mary Elizabeth McLEAN on 5 March 1879 [1227-79], d/o Thomas & Ann.  They were married in Brantford.

• 1901 census - Brantford

• Both Mahlon & Mary are buried at Scotland

Lavell Merton EDY, b. 10 Dec 1882 at Brantford.  Married Matilda Jane MYERSCOUGH on 26 March 1907 at Brantford.  Matilda died in 1974 - obit in Brantford Expositor of 15 Oct 1874.  She is buried at Mount Hope Mausoleum.

Maitland E. EDY, b. 28 Nov 1880, married Helen J. CHASE.  Farmed in Oakland twp.  Both are buried at Scotland
