George Oliver Shiver was born about 1851 in Irwin County, Georgia, a son of Manning Shiver and Sarah LOVE or NETTLES.

He was married about 1874, probably in Dougherty County, Georgia to Mary L. WILLINGHAM. This marriage produced 7 known children:

1. George Isaac, b. 16 Jun 1876, d. 14 Oct 1964. (Married Emily E. SPIRES).
   
2. Joel A., b. 28 Feb 1878, d. 16 Jun 1951.
   
3. Mary. (Married Mr. LYLES).
   
4. Ella.
   
5. Bertha.
   
6. M. E.
   
7. Benjamin Franklin, b. 2 Sep 1884, d. 13 Oct 1950.
