Shadrick DEAN was born about 1745. He married Mourning, probably in North Carolina where their oldest children were born. His sons Shadrick and John were in Jackson County, GA by 1809 where they were found on the Tax List.

Shadrick left a will signed on 15 May 1811 in Jackson Co, GA and proved March 1, 1813 in Jackson County, GA.
Although no records have been found of Shadrick's service in the Revolutionary War, in 1827 Mourning, while living in Gwinnett County with Jacob and Cynthia, drew land as a widow of a Revolutionary War Soldier which is accepted proof for a Revolutionary War Soldier.
Thomas DEAN, the son of Shadrick DEAN and Mourning, was born about 1775 in North Carolina. He married Elizabeth PHILLIPS who was born in 1779 in North Carolina. They were married 18 June 1798 in Orange County, NC

The Thomas Dean family lived not far from Madison Springs, GA, in Madison County, GA. A picture of their home survives although the home was torn down several years ago.
Thomas Dean died in 1845. Elizabeth lived with her son Thomas Wesley until the early 1870s. In the minutes of the Jones Chapel Methodist Church, 2 April 1870, it was requested that an obituary be written for her.
Jeptha DEAN, son of Thomas DEAN and Elizaberh PHILLIPS, was born circa1812 in GA. He married Malinda MERCER, daughter of James MERCER and Sarah, 15 September 1831 in Madison Co, GA. Malinda was born in 1814.

Malinda died sometime before the 1870 census although she is listed as a member of Jones Chapel Methodist Church on the earliest found roll. Jeptha died sometime after the 1870 census.
