He was baptized 5 Nov 1876 in Indian Creek, Elk Co., KS.⁽¹¹⁶⁾ A paper in the files of Muriel Enoch reads as follows: from Retta Atwell Shooh, Kas. Ammon about 7 E. T. married Katie E. Colborn at Central City, Nebraska on april 15, 1888 (she died July 16, 1944) daughter Viola Custer of Ontario Oregon sons Ivan, Gael, LeRoy. Baptized Nov 5, 1876 at Indian Creek, Elk co., Kansas by Elder W. S. Loar (ordained a minister at Clinton, Mo by elder I. N. & D. C. White, E. T. was pastor at Old Liberty St. Church for 20 yrs.

Ernest Taylor Atwell and Katie E. Colburn had the following child:
