He resided street unknown, in Putnam Co., MO 30 Jan 1859. A census listed Moses as head of household 15 Jun 1860 in Unionville, Putnam Co., MO.(274) Moses Bradshaw met Sally Williams in West Virginia, near Charleston. They moved to Illinois when their son, Lewis was small. Later, they moved to Iowa, then across the border line to Unionville, MO. Late in the Civil War, bush whackers came one night and tried to get the boys to join them and when they didn't, threatened them. They were burning people's homes and killing and Moses Bradshaw had slaves. That same night, the family loaded up and went to Pittsfield, Illinois, leaving their hotel and two nice farms. The youngest son, Eli Bradshaw, only 15, wanted to join the Union army, so brothers Lewis and Frank joined too, in order to go with him. Eli served 3 years. (275)
We next find the marriage of Moses Bradshaw, Jr. in Franklin Co., VA (now Kanawha Co., WV) on 8 Sep 1833 to Sarah Williams. Moses & Sarah lived in Kanawha Co., until about 1845/6. They then went into IL (county unknown). By 1849 they were in Mahaska Co., IA. In 1852 the family left Mahaska Co., and went to Putnamville, Putnam Co., MO. In about 1855, they moved to Unionville, same County. It was here that Moses owned several nice farms and a hotel. In the 1860 census, he was listed as a hotel keeper. In 1862 the Bradshaw family had to flee Unionville because of the war and went to Pittsfield, IL til the war was over. In the meantime, they lost all their land back at Unionville, MO. About 1878, the Bradshaw family moved to Henry Co., MO
Moses and Sarah were still living in 1880, but have been unable to find their death dates. It is believed they died in Henry Co., MO
