3. John³ Davis (Dolor², Dolor¹)⁽⁶⁵⁰⁾ was born in England abt 1626. John died 1703 in Barnstable, MA, at age 77.

He married Hannah Lynnell 15 Mar 1648 in Barnstable, MA.⁽⁶⁵¹⁾ John Davis and Hannah Linnett marryed att Nocett by Mr. Prince, March 15, 1648.⁽⁶⁵²⁾ Hannah is the daughter of Robert LYNNELL.

He emigrated from Massachusetts 17 Apr 1635.⁽⁶⁵³⁾ He resided street unknown, in Barnstable, MA 1648.⁽⁶⁵⁴⁾ John Davis, son of Dolor and Margery, b. in England about 1626, m. March 15, 1648/9, Hannah, Dau. of Robert Lynnell of Barnstable. Davis lived in Barnstable, and d. there 1703; was a farmer and house-carpenter. His name appears frequently in Barnstable town records in connection with transfers of real estate, negotiations with Indians, and in other capacities. He took the oath of fidelity at Barnstable, 1657; was surveyor of highways in 1656, 1671, 1672, 1675, and 1677; sole executor of his father;s will, 1673; on grand inquest, 1682; he owned considerable real estate at various places and settled portions of it on his sons during his own life. His will is dated 10 May 1701, and speaks of his wife as living, also of sons John, Benjamin, Samuel, Dollar, Timothy, and Jabez, of daughters Merdy, Ruth Lynnell, and Mary Hincley; also of Hannah Johes's five children, son John's four eldest sons, granddaughter Mary Goodspeed, and grandson Joseph Davis. Will proved 9 Apr 1703. Amount of inventory, 268 pounds, 12 shillings 4 d.⁽⁶⁵⁵⁾

John Davis and Hannah Lynnell had the following children:

10 ii. Samuel Davis⁽⁶⁵⁶⁾ was born in Barnstable, MA 15 Dec 1651. Samuel died 1711 in Barnstable, MA, at age 59. He resided street unknown, in Barnstable, MA aft 15 Dec 1651. Samuel was unmarried bef 1711. Samuel Davis never married.

11 iii. Hannah Davis⁽⁶⁵⁷⁾ was born in Barnstable, MA 3 Jan 1653.⁽⁶⁵⁸⁾ Hannah died est bef 1701 in Barnstable, MA, at age unknown.⁽⁶⁵⁹⁾ She married Jedediah Jones 18 Mar 1681 in Barnstable, MA.⁽⁶⁶⁰⁾ (See Jedediah Jones for the continuation of this line.)

12 iv. Mary Davis⁽⁶⁶¹⁾ was born in Barnstable, MA 3 Jan 1653.⁽⁶⁶²⁾ Mary died bef 1718 at age unknown.⁽⁶⁶³⁾ She married twice. She married Benjamin Goodspeed est 1676 in Barnstable, MA.⁽⁶⁶⁴⁾ (See Benjamin Goodspeed for the continuation of this line.) She married John Hincley 24 Nov 1697 in Barnstable, MA.⁽⁶⁶⁵⁾

+ 13 v. Joseph Davis was born Jun 1656.

14 vi. Benjamin Davis⁽⁶⁶⁶⁾ was born Jun 1656. Benjamin died 1718 at age 62. Benjamin was unmarried 1718.⁽⁶⁶⁷⁾

15 vii. Simon Davis⁽⁶⁶⁸⁾ was born in Barnstable, MA 15 Jul 1658.⁽⁶⁶⁹⁾ died young. Simon died aft 15 Jul 1658 in Barnstable, MA, at age unknown.⁽⁶⁷⁰⁾

+ 17 ix. Jabez Davis was born est. 1662.

18 x. Mercy Davis⁽⁶⁷¹⁾ was born in Barnstable, MA est 1664.⁽⁶⁷²⁾ Mercy died 1733 in Barnstable, MA, at age 69.⁽⁶⁷³⁾ Mercy was unmarried aft 1664.⁽⁶⁷⁴⁾
