2. Jacob Lewis (Lew)² Schwartz (Lewis¹) was born in Near Ottumwa, Wappello Co., IA 12 Aug 1864.⁽¹⁸⁷²⁾ Jacob died 8 Jun 1938 in McPherson, McPherson Co., KS, at age 73.⁽¹⁸⁷³⁾

He married Mary Agnes Myers 26 Nov 1896 in Wellington, Sumner co., KS.⁽¹⁸⁷⁴⁾ From the unfinished memoirs of Mary Agnes (Myers) Schwartz: Lew and I were married very early in the morning -- I believe 7:30 -- as the train on which we left town on our wedding trip was an early train. I had a silver gray dress, silk and wool mixed -- trimmed in maroon velvet -- and a gray camel's hair hat, with a shirred maroon velvet crown and aigrets; gray gloves fastened with small three-eyed pearl buttons and black shoes and black coat with immense balloon sleeves. We went to Wichita where we changed cars. While waiting in the station, we weighed ourselves on the waiting room scales. I weighed 109 lbs and Lew weighed 139 lbs. We went to Newton from Wichita and had another wait. Then on to Florence and then to Lyons, our destination. It was snowing when we reached Lyons. Cree Henderson met us at the station and we went in the hack to Uncle Jimmie's and Aunt Ev's home, where we made a short visit. Among the callers were Miriam Coutter and Harvey Motter who were afterward married -- I have forgotten -- perhaps they were married at that time, but I think not. Grandfather Myers gave me for a wedding present a book on Missions that he was trying to sell, for those were the days of book agents. He also asked me for money. This peeved me, for I had intended giving him some money, and was disgusted that he made the request before I got around to making the gift. After returning to Wellington, we began to arrange to move to Hutchinson where my father and Lew were establishing a lsundry. After our wedding trip Lew had no money for such an investment. The money I had saved from teaching school and turned over to my father for the business had never been accounted for up to this time. So, I asked my father to transfer stock accordingly to Lew, and put it in his name. I could see this didn't please my father, but he couldn't say "No". He had always carried the family pocket book. However, this was done and that was the way Lew got started in the laundry business. That was all the capital he had, but he certainly was a working partner.⁽¹⁸⁷⁵⁾

Mary was born 13 Apr 1874 in E. of Wheeling, Ohio Co., WV.⁽¹⁸⁷⁶⁾ just across the state line from Alexander, PA (which was the family's post office).⁽¹⁸⁷⁷⁾ Mary was the daughter of William Alexander Myers and Mary Ann Goulding.

Mary died 1969 in McPherson, McPherson Co., KS, at age 95.

Jacob was employed ca 1915, in McPherson, McPherson Co., KS.⁽¹⁸⁷⁸⁾

Jacob Lewis (Lew) Schwartz and Mary Agnes Myers had the following children:

Mary Evelyn³ Schwartz⁽¹⁸⁷⁹⁾ was born in Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS 13 Sep 1897.⁽¹⁸⁸⁰⁾ Mary died 9 Apr 1921 in Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS, at age 23.⁽¹⁸⁸¹⁾ Her body was interred April 1921 in Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS.⁽¹⁸⁸²⁾ She married Richard Bruce Hall, Sr. 27 Jun 1918 in Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS.⁽¹⁸⁸³⁾ Richard was born 19 Jan 1895 in Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS.⁽¹⁸⁸⁴⁾ Richard⁽¹⁸⁸⁵⁾ was the son of Charles Ernest Hall and Nida K. Waterfield. Richard died 29 Dec 1978 in Washington, D.C., at age 83.⁽¹⁸⁸⁶⁾ (See Richard Bruce Hall, Sr. for the continuation of this line.)
