8. Alphred "Alfred" White² Hinds (John¹)⁽¹²⁸¹⁾ was born Georgetown, Beaver Co., PA 11 May 1811. Alphred died 17 Apr 1875 Whiteford Twp., MI, at age 63.⁽¹²⁸²⁾ Obiturri (Obituary) A. W. Hinds (Alfred White Hines)

Was born in Georgetown Beaver Co. Pa. in 1811-Died in Whiteford Township Co., Michigan April 17th 1857 - Bro. Hinds wa converted at a camp meeting held near Petersburg in 1822 and then united with the M.E. Church. Bro. Hinds was a devoted Christian and faithful member of the church for 53 years filling many important offices with credit to himself and profit to the church. He had a large heart-he gave freely to his means. Was foremost in building churches and parsonages, one of the last benevolent acts of his life was to give liberally of his means to build one of the best brick parsonages in the Central Ohio Converence. His house had been a home for the weary itenerant for many years. His kind and Christian wife was by his side in hthis work of faith and labor of love. He leaves a widdow, 4 sons, 2 daughters to mourn their loss. His sickness was short-his end was peace. He rests from his labors and his works do follow him.

A. Paucher I found this letter at the home of Virginia Hinds Greene and have copied it as near as I could as it was written. I believe that Central Ohio Conference is now known as Lakeside, Ohio.

He married Sarah Shilling 30 Oct 1831 Dresden, Muskingum Co., OH.

Alphred served in the military 1 Sep 1861 in Valparaiso, Porter Co., IN. Civil War enlistment in Company F, 14th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry (OVI); Served as a hospital steward. Was wounded in the lung.

He was released from active duty Jan 1864 in Valparaiso, Porter Co., IN.

Alphred "Alfred" White Hinds and Sarah Shilling had the following children:

9 i. John³ Hinds⁽¹²⁸³⁾ was born 24 Oct 1832. John died bef 1881 at age unknown.

10 ii. Cynthia P. Hinds⁽¹²⁸⁴⁾ was born 22 Oct 1833. Cynthia died aft 1881 at age unknown.
