HATTIE DALTON, the daughter of WILLIAM Dalton was born December 25, 1873 in Old Fort, NC, and died November 7, 1901 in Asheville, NC.  She married SAMUEL ALONZO MCCANLESS May 5, 1894 in Asheville, NC, son of JOHN KELTON MCCANLESS and MARY HAUPE.  Lon was born April 7, 1859 in McDowell County, NC, and died December 6, 1923 in Old Fort, NC.  Hattie and Lon had two children that were both stillborn.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

GENEVA DALTON Pictured on the right was also a daughter of WILLIAM DALTON was born July 24, 1884 in Old Fort, NC, and died March 30, 1921 in Old Fort, NC.  She, like her sister married SAMUEL ALONZO MCCANLESS February 16, 1904 in McDowell County, NC, two and a half years after her sister died.

GENEVA DALTON and SAMUEL MCCANLESS were the parent of JAMES PAUL MCCANLESS, born February 14, 1905, Old Fort, NC; died April 19, 1969, Sedro-Woolley, WA.  Their other son was MACK CLYDE MCCANLESS, born January 16, 1909, Old Fort, NC; died October 24, 1979, Sedro-Woolley, WA.

MACK CLYDE MCCANLESS  married MARY ELIZABETH SHERRILL May 1, 1929 in Marion, NC.  She was born March 23, 1906 in Dillsboro, NC, and died May 08, 1991 in Sedro-Woolley, WA.  Clyde owned Commercial Hotel and Mac's Tavern in Hamilton, WA and that is interesting since there were a number of other hotel and tavern owners in the McCandless clan.   He was also the auditor for Washington State Employment Security Dept.

MACK MCCANLESS and MARY SHERRILL were the parents of PAULA PATRICIA MCCANLESS and ELIZABETH SHERRILL MCCANLESS.

Paula was born. March 18, 1930 in Seattle, WA she first married FRANK GRANVILLE WOLFE in 1950, Sedro Woolly, WA.  He was born. October 27, 1930 in  Lyman, WA.  She then married JAMES CLAUD BROWNING in 1960, Coeur d Alene, ID.

Elizabeth was born October 24, 1932, Seattle, WA Her first husband was DALE GORDON SMITH, they married April 11, 1951, in Arcada, CA.  Dale was born April 28, 1927 in California.  Elizabeth's second marriage was to REX DEE FORESTER, October 3, 1979, in Cheyenne, WY.  Rex was born February 24, 1934 in Elko, CO.
