Russel died 7/5/1964 in Florence, Italy during a vacation trip while visiting his daughter Jane whose husband Jay Maust was stationed in Aviano, Italy with the US Air Force. Both are buried in Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle, PA.

Following in the footsteps of his father Walter Edmond McClelland Russel owned and operated the McClelland Funeral Home in Harlansburg, PA for 25 years.

"Wedding Announcement

   Coming as a surprise to their many friends was the wedding event of October 18, when Russell E. McClelland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. McClelland of Harlansburg, was united in marriage to Miss Gertrude Gibson of West Sunbury, Pa., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gibson.
    The wedding ceremony was performed at the home of Rev. and Mrs. C.O. Anderson of Cherry Tree, Pa., with the ring ceremony being used.
   The bride is a teacher in one of the local schools and the groom is with the Jos. S. Rice company."

School Board Official Dies (New Castle News, October 31, 1964)
   "Russell E. McClelland, 59, of Harlansburg, well-known Lawrence County mortician and county school board secretary, died yesterday in Florence, Italy.
   He and his wife had left the county Thursday to visit their daughter, Mrs. J. M. (Jane) Maust of Milan, Italy.
   A cable reaching here did not reveal the cause of death. Mr. McClelland had been in good health.
   Mr. McClelland was a member and elder of the Harlansburg Presbyterian Church and member of Westminster Lodge 727 of the F. and A.M. He was a former member of the Laurel School Board.
   He was born in Harlansburg Oct. 22, 1904, to W. E. and E. Adella Stoner McClelland.
   He is survived by his wife, Mary Gertrude Gibson ...; a son, W. Edmond McClelland of Bremerton, Wash.; and a daughter, Mrs. Maust of Milan; a grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Victor (Mildred) Gates of New Springfield, Ohio, Mrs. Rex (Marjorie) Ford of Athens, Pa., and Mrs. Thomas (Freda) Richards of New Castle.
   Arrangements are not complete. A complete obituary will be published following the arrival of the McClelland family by air later this week."
