Obituary
of
Alonzo "Lon" H. Stevens

Montana
Standard, Dec. 2, 1941, p. 5 (and another article Dec. 3, after the
funeral)

| |

Lon and Olive, before 1927, at 2566 Parrot Street. |
Lon Stevens and his twin brother Lawson were born May 27, 1862, in
Wellsville, Montgomery County, Missouri, to Hiram Ambrose Stevens
(1821-1901) and Sarah Ann Garrett (1826 - 1883). Lon married Olive
Martina Burchard January 13, 1884, in Missouri. They had ten children.
They moved to Butte, Montana in 1910. Lon is listed as a day laborer
on the 1900 census for 1900 Missouri Census, Montgomery County, Upper Loutre
Township, Wellsville, but his daughter Peggy says he was a railroad foreman
in Missouri. In Butte he was a foreman in a copper mine. The
family lived at 2566 Parrot Street in Butte for many years. Lon lived
at 2430 Waskoe in Butte when he died. The house on Parrot Street is
still standing (below), but the house on Waskoe has been replaced with a
mobile home.
