HUSBAND NOTES: The Washington Post April 6, 1894 page 5 Five Houses in Flames Five two-story houses at Second and G Streets southwest were almost entirely destroyed by fire shortly after 6 o'clock last night. The houses were 126, 128, 130, 132, and 134 G Street, and the flames were first noticed by the driver of an Anacostia street car, who saw them coming out of the roof of No 128. He turned in an alarm from box 43, which was responded to by one fire company. By the time it arrived, however, the flames had spread to the roofs of the other houses, and another alarm was sent in, which brought two more engines and a truck. The fire was not extinguished until the roofs and upper floors of all the houses had been destroyed. House 126 was owned by Patrick Sullivan and occupied by Joseph Wise. The other houses were owned by Catherine Kelly and occupied by Mary Jackson, Margaret Ringold, John Westerly and T. J. Tyrell.
