HUSBAND NOTES: Adirondack News June 23, 1906 COMMITS SUICIDE WHILE INSANE Addison Wilson, of Brandon, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head, while visiting at the home of his brother, Squire Wilson, about three miles from Skerry, on Monday last. Mr. Wilson, who was 66 years of age, had been in failing health for a long time past, and his relatives had watched him closely as they feared his mind was becoming deranged. He had been stopping in Malone with Oliver Cook, but went to visit his son Charles in Bangor. He finally said he would like to go to Skerry to visit his brother there, and he was allowed to go. On Monday he took a double-barreled shotgun and started out hunting. His brother heard the report of a gun and went to see what he was shooting at. He met Addison coming back to the house, and the latter said he wanted to get another cartridge, as he had shot at what he said was a deer and had missed it. That his mind was affected was evident from the fact that there was an unexploded shell in one of the barrels of the gun, but nothing was said of this, and he was allowed to get some more ammunition. Soon another shot was heard and the brother again went to where the report came from, and this time he found the unfortunate man lying on the ground with the right side of his head literally blown to pieces. Corner Oliver was summoned, and the verdict was that the man committed suicide while insane. The relatives have the sympathy of many friends in their terrible bereavement.
