The REID MASTER FILE is a collection of REID data from a variety of sources. I have a hunch that the MASTER FILE will never be "complete" - I'm always finding new sources of information, not to mention "re-discovering" data that has been buried in one of my ga-ZILLION notebooks. Hopefully you'll find something of interest in this "first installment" of the MASTER FILE.The MASTER FILE is alphabetized by GIVEN NAME as it appears in the record. All spelling variants of REID are "interfiled". As with surname searches, DO be creative in your quest for a specific given name. A woman may have been known as "Katie" all her life, but be "Mary Catherine" on the record of her Baptism.
RECORD TYPES include BIO (biography), BAP (Baptisms), CEM (cemetery), DEA (death/obituary), At71, At80, At28 (Atlases/directories for 1871, 1880 and 1928) and MAR (recorded marriages and marriages from church records).
LOT NUMBERS are given when included in the record. CR is used for Charlottetown Royalty, and Ch for Charlottetown proper.
DATES - may be a bit confusing - if the date in the column is followed by a "-", then it can be assumed that the date represents the date of birth. If the date has no "-", then the date is that of the record event (for example, a marriage).
NOTES - in a few cases, notes turned out to be too big for the space in the table. I then "carried over" the notes into the "SOURCES" column.
SOURCES - not all records are sourced within the tables themselves.
