Herman Vaught was b March 29, 1897 and d August 17, 1952 in Carmi, Illinois. He married Harriett Barnes October 18, at Kingshighway Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Mo. by Dr. Arnold Lowe. Source-----Newspaper clipping.

Harriett's father died when she was young. She and her mother moved to Riverside, California, where Harriett attended grade school and high school. She went for two years to Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri, then returned to California. She did one year of lab work in Hollywood and worked at the Riverside County Hospital. She and her mother returned to Carmi about five years before her marriage. She organized Girl Scout Troop Two in Carmi, Illinois.

Herman attended country schools in White County, Illinois. When through with his schooling, he went to Carmi to learn telegraphy under S.T. DuBois and Theodore Hatcher. He moved to Howell, Indiana, where he was employed at the railroad yard office. He returned to Carmi after several years and was employed as a telegrapher and ticket clerk at the Union Depot in Carmi, Illinois.

Herman and Harriett are buried in the Burnt Prairie Cemetery, Burnt Prairie, Illinois.

He was married to Harriett BARNES October 18, in Kingshighway Presbyterian Church, St. Louis, Missouri. Harriett BARNES was born on Aug 13 1908 in Carmi, White County, Illinois. She died in Jan 1986. She was buried in Burnt Prairie Cemetery, Burnt Prairie, Illinois.
