A group of members from St. Paul's splintered to form their own church.
For the first few years they met in Fogleman's Schoolhouse..
The Church was known as the Schoolhouse Church until members built
the first of two long structures (there's some debate on the year.
Some say 1835, others 1845. My aunt's been trying to find the
records, but having a hard time because so many were destroyed in the Orange
County Courthouse fire). The current church was built in 1908 and renovated
in 1964. Mt. Pleasant's congregation merged with St. Pauls, I guess in the
late 1970's. Today it's known as Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Chapel with three services
- Memorial Day, Homecoming and Christmas Eve - along with
weddings/funerals/christenings.
