Manners-Sutton Parish: York County: created in 1855 from Kingsclear and Prince William Parishes: named for Sir John Henry Thomas Manners-Sutton (1814-1877), Lieutenant Governor of NB 1854-1861: included part of McAdam Parish until 1894.

Kingsclear Parish: York County: established 1786: probably named for clearings left by the cutting of the King's woods for the Royal Navy: included New Maryland Parish until 1846 and Manners Sutton Parish until 1855.
McAdam Parish: York County: set up from Prince William, Dumfries and Manners Sutton Parishes in 1894: named for John McAdam (1807-1893), Member of the House of Assembly and local lumberman.
Prince William Parish: York County: established 1786: named for Prince William, later King William IV, patron of the King's American Dragoons who settled there: included parts of Dumfries Parish until 1833, Manners Sutton Parish until 1855, and McAdam Parish until 1894.
