Was Capt. of the NB Fencibles, a regiment raised in this province in the year 1812, and was afterwards Lieutenant Colonel and inspecting field Officer of the Provincial Militia. Represented the County of York in the Provincial Legislature from 1809 to 1847. (John Allen was the only s/o Col. Isaac Allen, Loyalist. In 1784 NB was part of NS.)

{Isaac Allen was Lieut-Col of the NJ Volunteers. Before the Revolution he had been a well-to-do lawyer in Trenton, NJ. He received a grant of 2000 acres in Kingsclear, NB. His property was confiscated and his wife, Sarah Campbell, lost her former home in Philadelphia, called "Spring Hill". Six of his daughters took up residence in Fredericton, living in three separate houses. Two of them lived at the resent 868 George St, the house alluded to in the "Winslow Papers" as "Col. Allen's cottage on George Street".}

The following notice of death of his wife appears in the obituary column of the Currier, St John, NB 6 Dec 1851:

"At Dumfries, York Co, on the 27th ult, Mary Woodbridge Allan, widow of the late Adam Allan, Esq. Lieut of the Queen's American Rangers, in the 86th year of her age, leaving a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their bereavement. The deceased came to this province in the memorial year, 1783, with her father the late Dr. Jos. Clarke, of Maugerville."

It will be observed that there is a gap of nearly eight years between the birth of Sarah Allen and John Allen. This is accounted for by the fact that Colonel Isaac Allen was absent with the army, fighting on the side of the British Crown, during this period.

Isaac Allen, one of his Majesty's Council for the Province of New Brunswick & Judge of the Supreme Court, died in the 12th of Oct between one & two o'clock, Sunday 1806

Sarah Allen, his wife, d/o Thomas & Elizabeth Campbell of Philadelphia, died Mar 19th 1808 at sunset.

Allen (John), Archbishop of Dublin in Henry 8th, Judge of Cardinal Wolsey's Court, cruelly murdered, 58 years, assisted the Cardinal in suppressing 40 monasteries.

Allen/Allan/Allyn (William) Cardinal. Priest of the Roman Church. He was the son of John Allen by Jennet Lyster sometime in 1752. Sister to Thomas Lyster of Rassal in Lancashire, a gentleman of family & fortune - graceful in person, manners of majestic presence - easy, affable deportment - with the greatest severity of manners, mildness of speech & behaviour which draw the affections of all who conversed with him - strong generous. 1587 created Cardinal of England.

Allen - (Joseph) 1633 being learned religious, etc, etc.

Allen - (Thomas) a famous mathematician, b. 1542 being descended thro" six generations from Henry Allen (or Allan), Lord of the Manor of Bukenhall, Stafforshire.

Memo copies from the statement fyled by Isaac Allen Jack, with his statement by Loyalist descent, with the NB Loyalist Society.

Isaac Allen came from New Jersey, AD 1783, and was one of the judges first appointed to the bench in New Brunswick. He settled above Kingsclear, and about four miles from Fredericton, York Co. His wife's maiden name was Sarah Campbell.

Isaac Allen and Sarah Campbell his wife had the following children, viz: -

Lieutenant-Col Isaac Allen
About the time of General Howe's occupation of Trenton, in Dec 1776, the family of Isaac Allen left their home in that city, accepted protection papers and were ever afterwards considered subjects of King George. Isaac Allen was commissioned Dec 3 1779, he appears as in command of the Third Battalion, but in the later years of the war in the Second Battalion as its Lieutenant-Col. During the was all his property in Trenton was confiscated. In the year 1783 he resumed his profession as a lawyer in St. John, NB, and in after years took a seat upon the supreme court bench and was a member of the council of the Province. His death occurred in the year 1806, in the sixty-fourth year of his age.

ALLEN - Lawrence, settled on Salmon River, in 1829, and is now in his eighty-seventh year. He had two sons, Caleb and John. The latter is now a comfortable farmer.
ALLEN - Thomas, settled at Gaspereau in 1829. His sons James, Isaac, William, Thomas, Henry George and David, still live in the vicinity of the homestead.
