Educated as a Land Surveyor. Located in New Hampshire and served with the Kings American Dragoons, under the command of Major Daniel Murray, and held the rank of Lieut. at the close of the Rev. War.
Emigrated with his Regt. to Saint John in 1783, and retired on 1/2 pay upon its disbandment. He rec'd grant of land at Dumfries, York Co, fronting on the Saint John River.
He engaged extensively in farming and land surveying on the newly assigned lands. He was one of the first appointed Magistrates for York County, and was an active and influential citizen.
At the 1st great freshet on the Saint John River in April 1798 barns, cattle, fences and a large quanity of hay were swept away. Captain Davidson lost 50 head, and Major Daniel Murray lost 40 head.
First elected to the House of Assembly, as a MLA for York County, at the GE of 1802. He sat until dissolution in 1809, when he retired from active politics. He was an Anglican by religion.
