Was appointed Magistrate for Sunbury County, and took an active interst in the public affairs of the new province. He also practiced law, and was admitted to the Bar of NB at the first sessison of the Supreme Court of NB, 1 Feb 1785.
Married 22 Feb 1778 to Miss Abigail Freeman; b. 18 Jun 1760; d. 20 Dec 1824; d/o Elisha Freeman, Fort Cumberland, and formerly of Norwich, CT. They were married at Fort Cumberland by James Law, Esq, J.P. By this marriage there was a family of ten sons and two daughters.

The Hon. Mr. Street was a clever and well-read lawyer. In 1807, he went to England at the request of the St. John City Council to argue against the claims of Messrs. Simonds, White and Hazen, for certain fishing privileges, and made such a presentation for the City that their claims were disallowed.
On 16 Jan 1800, he fought a duel at Fredericton, NB, with John Murray Bliss. The affair was bloodless, after an exchange of pistol shots. An amicable settlement was arranged by the seconds, Capt. Anderson and Stairs Agnew. He was an old-time gentleman, short in stature, pompus in manner, wearing knee-breeches, and gaiters. His colleagues from Sunbury \, James Glennie with whom he had several verbal clashes, described him as "The little Creep."
He was applicant for appointment to the Supreme Court of NB in 1808, and again in 1816, but others received appointments.Faamily:
