Frank was a strong man, and he often preformed feats to exhibit this strength to those about him. On one such occasion he reptured a blood vessel in his lung, which was thought to have been the beginning of the trouble which caused his death.
One winter he went to work in a lumber camp above Fredericton, and before returning home he bought a set of bob-sleds, and being anxious to return he set off in a snow storm and he caught a cold. This eventually gave way to tuberculous, which soon claimed his life. Frank spent a long time recovering from peneumonia. It is said that when the Doctor finally let him up and about, he took a chance trying to excersice his team of horses, as they, being sharp shod for icy weather, were tearing the barn apart. Being very lively animals they were hard to manage as a team, and Frank found them exhausting, but he continued to try and work with them, It is believed that this is why he never fully recovered and the TB took hold of his lungs.
