The Hall Family Trees

KIT 52701

On April 5, 1837 a Henry Hall, most likely from South Carolina, bought land in Barbour County, Alabama.  He died in 1844.  His will, which was administered by his son, Silas, listed Henry’s wife, Dicey; sons, William, Silas, Daniel, and Elisha; daughters, Patience (wife of Charles Hall), Nancy (wife of Madison Hall), and Martha Hall.  He also had several grandchildren who were Croleys.

One of Henry’s sons, Silas, moved to Santa Rosa County, Florida, where, in 1850, he was listed as 55 years old, and his wife, Margaret, 60.  They had the following children:  Henry, born about 1830, Caroline, born about 1834, James, born about 1837, and Silas, born about 1840.

Silas, born about 1840, was married to Hattie E., born about 1851, and they had the following children:  James, born about 1867, Harman W., born about 1868, Etta, born about 1870, and Louisa and Richard, both born in 1879.  Apparently, the last two were twins.

In the 1880 Florida Census Silas and his family were in Escambia County.  But by 1900 they had moved to Geneva County, Alabama, where they lived in the Beaver Dam area.  By then, Harman W. was grown and married to Katie, born in 1875.  Their children were Leon, born in 1891, and Roman W., born in 1893.

By 1910, Silas, the father of Harman, was no longer listed in the census record.  He had probably died.  However, Harman and Katie were still living in the Beaver Dam community.  By 1920, they were listed with their son, Leon, in Samson, Alabama.  Hattie can be found there too.

The 1930 Manatee County, Florida Census shows Roman W., his wife, Dora L., born in 1896, and their children, Mary E., born in 1916, Rebecca L., born in 1918, Willie D., born in 1921, and Brady B., born in 1923, all living at home. Every member of the family was listed as born in Alabama.
