ELI BEEDE (1699-1789)

In the Name of God Amen. I, Eli Beede, of Kingston in the county of Rockingham and State of New Hampshire. Yeoman being of a sound & disposing mind & memory do make this my last will & testament, & after humbly recommending my soul to God & my body to a decent Interment, my worldly Estate I devise in manner following viz Impu(?). I will that my just Debts & funeral Charges shall be paid by my son Hezekiah Beede out of the Estate shall herein give him as soon as may be after my Death. I likewise appoint him to be Executor of this my last will.

ITEM I give & devise to my said Son Hezekiah, his heirs, & Assign(ee) forever all my real Estate within the township of Kingston aforesaid & all the land in Deerfield in the township of Nottingham in said County which I purchased of Jeremiah Glidden & all my Cattle, Sheep, & houses which are haphazard my homeplace. I likewise give him all my Money Notes & bonds.

ITEM I give & devise to my Son Daniel Beede, his heirs, & Assign(ee) forever that lot of land in Poplin in said County which I purchased of Danial Smith.

ITEM I give & devise to my Son Thomas Beede, his heirs, & Assign(ee) forever the remainder of that tract of Land in said Poplin which I purchased of Josiah Ladd which I have not already conveyed to him my said Son.

ITEM I give & devise to my Son Jonathan Beede, his heirs, & Assign(ee) forever all the remainder of that tract of land in said Poplin which I bought of Antipas Gilman & all the land adjoining the land purchased of said Gilman which I purchased of him the said Jonathan.

ITEM I give & bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Huntoon, her heirs, & Assign(ee) forever twenty acres of land lying in said Poplin o/is part of that land I purchased of one Jacob lying on the South said land.

ITEM I give & devise to my Grandson Eli Huntoon twenty five acres of land off the upper end of that lot of land in Salisbury in the County of Hillsborough which I purchased of his father John Huntoon.

ITEM I give & devise to my Grandson Eli Beede the Son of my said Son Thomas Beede and to his heirs & Assign(ee) forever a certain tract of land lying in said Poplin & is bounded as followeth viz being land that I bought part of Enoth Bean & part of John Brown beginning fifty two rods South from the Southwest corner of my son Thomas Beede's land then running northeasterly to the Southwest Corner of land formerly owned by Josiah Robertson then northerly by said Robertson land to said Thomas Beede land then westerly by said Thomas Beede Land to land owned by Jonathan Beede then southernly on said Jonathan Beede in part & Hezekiah Beede in part & to the first mentioned bound(ar)y.

ITEM I give & devise to Benjamin Davis the Son of Samuel Davis of Kingston by his first wife, & to his heirs, & Assign(ee) forever all my land in Poplin aforesaid lying between the land herein given to my Daughter Elizabeth Huntoon & the land herein given to my Grandson Eli Beede. I also give Said Benjamin Davis that bed & bedding which belongs to Poplin & all my moveable goods that are now at Poplin. Further I give & bequeath to my Son Jonathan, & Thomas, my Daughter Elizabeth Huntoon, & to the Children of Samuel Davis by his first wife all my Creatures & provisions in Poplin to be equally divided between them.

ITEM All my wearing Apparel I will & order to be equally divided amongst all my Sons.

ITEM I give & bequeath to my Daughter Huntoon & the Daughters of Samual Davis by his first wife all my household goods & Cloths not made up to be equally divided between them. All the remainder of my Estate real & personal not herein otherwise disposed of I give to my said Son Hezekiah, & to his heirs, & Assign(ee) forever & also my Provision whether in the house, in the barn, or in the field. And I likewise appoint him my said Son Hezekiah Beede to be sole Executor of this my last will and I hereby revoke all other wills by me made & ratify this to be my last will & testament.

IN WITNESS whereof I have here (?) my hand & Seal this nineteenth Day of September one thousand seven hundred & eighty six. (19 SEP 1786)

SIGNED SEALED published & declared by the said Eli Beede to be his last will & testament in presence of us who subscribed our Names in his presence.

Rockingham ss To all people to whom these presents shall come Phillip White Esq. Judge of the probate of wills in & for the County of Rockingham sendeth Greeting - KNOW YE that on the Day of the Date hereof before me at Exeter in said County the Instrument a Copy of which is here into annexed preporting the last will & testament of Eli Beede late of Kingston in said County Yeoman deceased was presented for probate by Hezekiah Beede the executor therein named & John Bachellor & Eliphalet Webster two of the witnesses whose names are there to subscribed being then present made solemn Oath that they saw said testator sign seal & heard him declare the said instrument to be his last will and testament that he was then to the best of their Judgement of sound & disposing Mind & that they with John Bachellor jun. subscribed their names together as witness to the Execution thereof in the presence of the said testator. I DO therefore prove approval allow of the said instrument as the last will & testament of the said deceased & do hereby commit the administration thereof in all Matters the same concerning of his Estate whereof he Died possessed in said County unto him the aforesaid Executor will faithfully execute the said will and testament & to administer the Estate of the said deceased according to the same who accepted of his said trust & is directed to exhibit an inventory of said Estate according to law shall rendor an account upon oath of his proceedings therein when lawfully hereto required.

IN TESTIMONY where of I have set my hand & the Seal of the Court of Probate for said County. Dated at Exeter aforesaid the Seventeenth Day of June Amo Domini 1789. (17 JUN 1789)
