FENTON A. 'BUD' PHILBRICK
BANGOR and HOLDEN - Fenton A. "Bud" Philbrick, 78, husband of the late A. Lucille "Peggy" Philbrick, died of cancer Jan. 28, 2005. He was born March 13, 1926, in Bangor the son of Fenton A. Philbrick Sr. and Louise (Doughty) Philbrick. He was a veteran of 23 years having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on a submarine in the South Pacific. Bud then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and retired as a Sgt. 1st Class. He was an avid fisherman and loved tying flys. Bud enjoyed fishing almost anywhere but his favorite spot was East Grand Lake. He had been a resident of Holden for 38 years, prior to moving to Bangor in recent years. Surviving in addition to his mother; are four children, Gregory M. Philbrick of Rockville, Md., Jean L. and her husband, Valentino DiSalvatore, of Eddington, Mark E. Philbrick of Levant, Matthew D. Philbrick and Susan James of Carmel; six grandchildren, Graham Philbrick, Christopher DiSalvatore, Angelina DiSalvatore, Felicia DiSalvatore, Cameron Philbrick, and Jennifer Philbrick; two great-grandchildren, Elijah DiSalvatore, and Benjamin DiSalvatore; four sisters, Florence "Babe" Hopkins, Betty Grant, Joyce Charloux, and Norma Spencer; one brother, Wayne E. Philbrick; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett Jr., director of Chaplaincy Services at EMMC, officiating. Spring interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Maine Veteran's Home, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, 04401 or to St. Joseph's Healthcare, Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 1638, Bangor, 04402.
