The 5th great grandson of Thomas the emigrant.
Served with the Union Army during the Civil War
(Joseph7, Simeon6, Benjamin5, Nathan4,
James Jr.3, James2, Thomas1).
He was an officer with the 15th Massachusetts Infantry during the Civil War and fought at Ball's Bluff, Antitam, and Fredericksburg. Later, he served as City Marshall of Lawrence, Massachusetts.
