Be it remembered that I Jonathan Philbrick of Standish in the [c]ounty of Cumberland and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, gentlemen being sensible that I must shortly quit this earthly tabernacle, as it is appointed for all men once to die; and being in good health of body and a sound mind, do this seventeenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen, make and publish this from my last will and testament in manner following.

Imprimis. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah Philbrick, all the use and improvement of my real estate during her natural life excepting what I shall give my son Caleb P. Philbrick. I also give my said wife all my personal estate to be at her disposal; she to support my daughter in law Miriam Philbrick during the time of her remaining a widow provided she said Miriam shall choose to remain with my said wife; she the said Sarah also to support my grandson John Hasty Philbrick, so long as he shall live with her, by the consent of his mother, or his guardian. I give and devise to my son Caleb P. Philbrick his heirs and [as]signs forever, sixty acres of land with the buildings thereon, being in the lots numbered twenty five and twenty six in the first Divisio[n] [of] said Standish excepting what I sold to Peter Rowe; also the [h]alf of the lot numbered five in the third division: I also discharg[e] my said Son Caleb from the sum of two hundred twenty eight dollars and fifty cents, which stands charged against him on my books.

Item. I give to my said daughter in law Miriam Philbrick, widow of the late John Philbrick, the use and improvement of my said real estate, after the decease of my said wife, during the time she shall remain the widow of the said John Philbrick, or untill [sic] my said grandson, John Hasty Philbrick shall arrive to the age of twenty one years, she the said Miriam to support my said grandson John Hasty Philbrick, and pay all the taxes that shall be assessed on said farm, and all the other lands I shall hereafter give to my said grandson.

Item. I give and devise [lined out] bequeath to my three daughters viz Judith Jones, Polley Pike and Betsy How, one hundred dollars each to be paid by my grandson John H. Philbrick, as follows viz twenty five dollars to each, when he shall arrive to the age of twenty [one] years, and twenty five dollars to each yearly, after that time, untill [sic] they shall receive the said sum of one hundred do[llars.]

Item. I give and devise to my grandson John H. Philbrick, his [heirs] and assigns forever, when he shall arrive to the age of twenty on[e] years, my homestead farm where I now live, with the buildings thereon in said Standish; also twenty five acres of land being a part of the lot numbered one hundred and thirteen in the second division in said Standish, which I hold in common with Joh[n] Dean Esqr, also the nineteen acres of the lot numbered forty nine in the second division, which I purchased of James Moody Collector of said Standish; also eighty nine acres of land in the town of Gorham; also my pew in the meeting house in said Standish; also all the rest and residue of Real and personal estate, not heretofore disposed off [sic]; and if the said John H. Philbrick shall decease before he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years and without issue, lawfully begotten: It is my will that the property which I have given him shall be [di]vided between my said daughters viz Judith Jones, Polley [Pike], Betsy How, and my daughter in law Miriam Philbrick, [a]lso Jonathan Philbrick son of Caleb P. [inserted] Philbrick in equal [parts.]

And lastly. I appoint my said wife Sarah Philbrick, Benjamin Pike and Miriam Philbrick Executors of this my last will [and] testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made [--?--]. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year above written. [Note. The word devise was erased and the word P. interlined before signing.]
