KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That I Miriam
Higgins of Standish in the County of Cumberland and State
of Maine, widow
in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars __________
paid by John H. Philbrick of Standish
afore ? [burn]
the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, do hereby remise, release, bargain
sell and convey, and forever
QUITCLAIM unto the said John his
heirs and assigns forever all my right, title, and interest in and to one half
part in common
and undivided of a certain parcel of land situated in said
Standish, containing one acre more or less, and bounded
as follows - Southerly by the old County road leading from
Standish Village over "Fort Hill" to Portland - Southeasterly
by the line between the towns of Gorham and Standish
and on other sides by land of David Morton - said
parcel of land being that part of "the orchard" formerly
owned by Nancy Deane, deceased __________
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the same, together with all the privileges and appurtenances
thereunto belonging, the said John - his heirs and assigns forever. And I do
covenant with the said John, his __________ heirs and assigns, that I will
warrant and forever defend the premises to him the said John, his
heirs and assigns forever, against the lawful claims and demands of all persons
claiming by, through or under me_____
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I the said Miriam Higgins_____
have hereunto set my hand and seal, this tenth day of May
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four_____
