NORWAY, ME -- Joseph J Philbrick 74 died Saturday, July
11, 1998, at the Stephens Memorial Hospital. A live long resident of the area,
hs home was on Roxbury Avenue, Mexico
He was born in Roxbury on Oct. 14, 1923, and was the son of Ben and Alice
(Harding) Philbrick. He attended Roxbury schools and during World War II served
as an Army Private First Class from Feb. 17, 1943 to Dec. 23, 1945 with Company
F 398th Engineer General Service Regiment overseas including Northern France,
Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Hew was employed as a millwright in the
wood room at Boise Cascade Paper Co. in Rumford for over 37 years until
retirement in 1979. He loved the outdoors and carpentry, especially hunting and
working in the woods.
He was married in Mexico on Feb. 15, 1943, to the former Carleen L. Spaulding,
who survives of Mexico.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Joleen) Treadwell of
Mexico, Mrs. James (Janice) Dolloff of West Peru and Mrs. James (Betty) Salatino
of Dixfield: ason, Colin and his wife, Jean of Dixfield: two sisters, Mrs Thomas
(Edna) Twitchell of Norway and Mrs Clarence "Bill" (Harriett Everett of Oxford:
11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren
