William Creg Pedigo [sic] and his wife Elizabeth Milligan Pedigo left Bowling Green Kentuck [sic] with their family when Willis was one year old that was about March 1860. Came by boat on Barnes river then changed to Green river then to Ohio river and then on to Mississippi river. Got off at Burlington Iowa and stayed one night. Went on to Cameron, Ill. where their friends met them and took them home with them, then to a house they had rented near Robison Corners where they lived one year. Then they moved to Cameron Ill. where they lived three years. Then on to other places.

He died north of the twin oil stations on Galesburg Monmouth road.

She died in Monmouth at Aunt Lou's.

[Editor's Comment:  Tracing the river route from Warren county, it seems likely that the above named "Barnes river" was actually the "Barren river".]

Grandfather & Grandmother were married here in monmouth in a hotel here have forgotten the name of it unless it was the Baldwin hotel. Then they went to Rock Island and stayed all night. They came home the next day. Uncle Field went to meet them and went in lumber wagon and a board, instead of a spring seat. He took them to Grandmother Lairs father & mother where they always lived until after Florence was married when they moved to Monmouth where Edna was born out on Boston Avenue. After G Grandma died Grandfather bought out the other heirs. Our old home. O yes when they got home Uncle Field picked Gmother up and carried her in the house. He was quite a tease I remember him very well.
