of William Craig Pedigo
William Craig PEDIGO #136-141 (1815-1873) was descended from the French Immigrant Joseph Peregois who came to America as an indentured servant in 1685. William's line of descent appears below:
in 1685, Joseph Peregois
& Amy Green
"Grandsire Ned" Pedigo & Hannah Elkin
& Dorothy "Dolly" Edwards
"Civil Billy" Pedigo & Rhoda P. Craig
William Craig PEDIGO, son of William
"Civil Billy" PEDIGO and Rhoda P. CRAIG, was born on 31 October 1815 in Bowling
Green, Warren Co., Kentucky. He was married twice. He moved with his 2nd wife
and family to Illinois in 1860. He died on 23 January 1873 near Galesburg, Knox Co., Illinois,
and was buried in Ogden Cemetery, Coldbrook, Illinois. [He is Pedigo # 136-141.]
He was married (1) to Susannah McMURRY (daughter of possibly William McMURRAY/MCMURRY) on 3 February 1837 in Warren Co., Kentucky. The marriage was performed by J. L. Hickman. Susannah McMURRY was born on 17 December 1820 in Warren Co., Kentucky, and died at the age of 29 on 23 January 1850 in Warren Co., Kentucky. Her burial place has not yet been discovered by this researcher. William Craig PEDIGO and Susannah McMURRY had the following children:

After Susannah's death, he married (2) to Elizabeth MILLIGAN (daughter of Lewis MILLIGAN and Abigail HOLDER) on 3 April 1851 in Bowling Green, Warren Co., Kentucky. According to "Warren Co. KY Marriages 1797-1851, Original Marriage Bonds and Consents," by Helen Thomas 1970, Mary Robold and Elizabeth Price, the marriage bond was dated April 1, 1851, with consent of parent, "pr by oath of G.W. Milligan." The same source states the marriage was performed April 3 by Isaac McMurray. However, pages from the actual "Warren Co. KY Marriage Register 1797-1869" states that the marriage was performed by Jesse M. Murray on April 3, 1851.
Elizabeth MILLIGAN was born on 27 June 1829 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., Kentucky. She died on 1 September 1899 in Monmouth, Warren Co., Illinois, and was buried there. After her husband's death, she was said to have lived in Iowa.
In 1944, William and Elizabeth's granddaughter, Ella Florence (LAIR) ROHR, wrote in her family notes about her grandparents and their migration from Kentucky to Illinois:
"William Creg [sic] Pedigo and his wife Elizabeth Milligan Pedigo left Bowling Green Kentuck [sic] with their family when Willis was one year old that was about March 1860. Came by boat on Barnes river then changed to Green river then to Ohio river and then on to Mississippi river. Got off at Burlington Iowa and stayed one night. Went on to Cameron, Ill. where their friends met them and took them home with them, then to a house they had rented near Robison Corners where they lived one year. Then they moved to Cameron Ill. where they lived three years. Then on to other places." [Editor note: Tracing the above route from Kentucky to Illinois on a map, "Barnes river" mentioned above is probably "Barren" or "Barrens" river, which Ella Florence most likely spelled the way it was pronounced to her as she recorded it in the genealogy notebook for her son.]
William Craig PEDIGO and Elizabeth MILLIGAN had the following children:
|Sarah Frances PEDIGO||(She m. Jacob Good HUBBARD.)|
