In the name of God, Amen. The Last Will and Testament of Alexander
Cannon of the township of Derry, Westmoreland County.
I, Alexander Cannon being weak in body and knowing the certainty
of death do consign my soul to God and my body to be buried by
Executors being sound in mind and memory, do make and publish
this my Last Will and Testament. In manner and form following
(that is to say). First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife,
Sarah Cannon, the equal third part the proceeds of the place I
now live on together with the equal third part of the three hundred
eighty seven acres of land in Clarion County PA togther with a
third part of all the moveable property and Cows, Sheep, hogs
and horses the other two thirds to be divided among my son John
M. Cannon and Martha J. Cannon and Elizabeth Cannon to be equally
parted and divided among them share and share alike. Item, I give
and bequeath to my eldest son Alexander Cannon, sixteen hundred
and fifty-five dollars now in his hand for which he is to pay
his mother thirty-six dollars as his third of the interest yearly.
Item, I give and bequeath to my second son John N. Cannon and
my two daughters Martha Jane Cannon and Elizabeth Cannon three
hundred and one acres in Derry Township, Westmoreland County,
Pa -(where I now live) which I value to them at Eighteen Dollars
per acre to be equally parted and divided among them share and
share alike. I give and bequeath to my younger son James Cannon
two hundred acres of land in Clarion County, Pa, one hundred acres
which I bought of Joseph Pierce and one hundred acres adjoining
Peter Pierce and Corbets with the allowance of six pr.ck. for
roads. Item. I will and bequeath one hundred and eighty acres
seven acres of land adjoining the above described tract of land
and the allowance of six pr. ck for Roads to be in the hand of
my executors to be sold and divided among my four children share
and share alike Alexander Cannon & John N, Cannon and Martha
J. Cannon and Elizabeth Cannon. I will and bequeath to my eldest
son Alexander Cannon one hundred and fifty one dollars be paid
him out of the notes and accounts I hold, and lastly I give and
bequeath the remainder of my Account after my funeral expenses
is paid to be divided among my four children Alexander Cannon,
John N, Cannon, Martha J. Cannon and Elizabeth Cannon to share
and share alike and I make and order by beloved wife Sarah Cannon
and Alexander Cannon and John N. Cannon Executors of this my Last
Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have here unto set my
hand and seal this thirtieth day of April in the year of my Lord
one Thousand Eight Hundred and forty two.. Signed, sealed, published
and declared by the above named Alexander Cannon to be his Last
Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and
in his presence have approved this 7" day of June A.D. 1842.
