Overstreet,
the only son of James H. Overstreet and Jane Wheat was born in Bedford Co., VA, Apr. 4, 1828; married Mary Jane Rebecca Everett Jan. 29, 1852. They left VA for Paris, TX, with three children sometime in 1858. He worked as a cabinet maker, furniture, coffins etc. Six more children were born in Paris during the
1860s. Four of the children died in Paris over these years, probably from typhoid fever (my guess. my grandfather indicated his father thought town living unhealthy). As
a result, in the late 1860s they moved to a farm near Sumner, Emberson area where my grandfather, Elisha Hiram
Overstreet was born in 1872. E. H. Overstreet married Mary Richey from Enid, OK area in 1902 and shortly after they moved to farm in central California. Surviving children of Hiram and Mary Jane: Lelia Ann O. married Joseph L. Bell in 1893, died in 1932; John W. O. married Siner (Ivey) Minton in 1891; Robert M. O. married Laura Dennis, he died in 1922; Luella Jane O. married Clarence Sperry.

INFORMATION ON OVERSTREET CEMETERY in Lamar County
started 27 Mar 1897
LOCATION IN CEMETERY: Overstreet
NW QUAD 22
NOTES: From the records of Elizabeth Booth: 'Overstreet Family Cemetery is located in the northwest quadrant of the county, near the Globe community. At the first road to the right after passing Globe sign [County Road 34550] take this road and go about 3 miles. These directions would place it in Block 22 of the Lamar County Road Map produced by American Drafting and Services revised December 1993. The cemetery is located on the right side of
the road in a grove of cedar trees near the Craddock community. It is possibly on the E. Wideman survey. J. R. Wideman gave land for a church in 1888.
Overstreet and Craddock Cemeteries are supposed to be very near each other.' Mrs. Delores Gullion pointed the cemetery out on a map in March 1995 and said there is little evidence left of the burial ground. There are three persons of the Joel
Wheeler family believed buried here. Mrs. Booth was given that information by telephone in March 1979 by Mrs. Dolores
Gullion. The following persons have been identified to be buried here: Baby Wells (birth and death are not known),
Charles Wheeler died 27 Mar 1897, Joel, John and Ruth Wheeler all whose birth and death are not known.
