In this Album we intend to offer as many pictures of Southern Ruggles born before 1850 as possible. So far we have only one offering. More will be added as they become available. Do you have a picture of such a Ruggles?

Hamrick Ruggles, b. 13 Aug 1841, Lewis Co, KY; died 9 Jan 1911, Lewis Co, KY;
buried: Canaan Methodist 
Church Cemetery, Lewis Co, KY; s/o William Clancy and
Matilda (Hamrick) Ruggles. If the information provided elsewhere in this
site is correct, his line of descent is (Jesse, William, James, William, James,
John). This picture of her great grandfather was provided by Kellie
Bertrand, an active contributor to Project 2. He is my great great
granduncle -- Dick Kraus.
At the August 2000 Ruggles Reunion in Lewis County, KY, I was told that folks had a portrait of Thomas P. Ruggles, but I did not get to see it. Someday I will! And we will post it here.

Other Ruggles Maps and Photos
This map shows the area of what in the 1790's was Mason County
and in 1806 became Lewis County, Kentucky where our Ruggles first held land. 
I have drawn a line showing the divide between the North Licking and Cabin Creek watersheds. John (10000)'s land was in the Cabin Creek watershed and is still located roughly were the blue X is inserted. Just to the southwest of that X is the rectangle with a cross in it which is the Bethel Methodist Church and cemetery where many of John's descendants are buried. William (20000)'s land was in the North Licking watershed roughly where the magenta X is placed. His grandson gave the land for the Ruggles Camp and several are buried at the Canaan Church, both shown on the map to the east and the northeast of that X.
