Misc. Notes
Rensselaer was a native of District No 2 in Cecil Co.
415“[Rensselaer], who in youth learned the miller’s trade, devoted some time to that occupation, but afterward transferred his attention to farming and in that calling his remaining years were spent. He was a lifelong resident of Cecil County and had many warm friends among the people here. On the organization of the Republican party, being in sympathy with its policy, he became one of its adherents and ever afterward voted that ticket. He was spared to attain an advanced age, his death occurring in 1877, when he was seventy-four.”

361Death of an Old CitizenRensellaer Biddle, an old and respected citizen of the Fourth district of this county, died on the 16th instant, from the effect of a shock of paralysis. He had been in rather feeble health for some time, and was attacked by the disease, which terminated his life on the above date.
The early years of his life were spent in the vicinity of Elkton, and he was one of the few old men recently living who assisted in the construction of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.
Always industrious and honest, his efforts in the early years of his life did not meet with the success that they deserved; but he, by persevering industry and strict integrity, succeeded in securing a competency in the latter years of his life. He was a member of the M E Church, at Cherry Hill, where his remains were interred, on Monday last.
