Jacobsville in Pittsylvania County was named for the ancestors of Sam Jacobs and Jim Jacobs, brothers, who contributed a great deal to the Altavista and Hurt communities.
23In 1840, William Jacobs built a home at the East junction of Sycamore Creek (Pittsylvania Co, VA). The original home had two bedrooms downstairs and one upstairs. As the family grew, so did the house. A new section was built on the front, and a side porch was added to the old house. William and Mary had seven children.
