When William H Jacobs (Sam's grandfather) died, Sam bought the house and married Molly Simpson. Molly died after her sixth child was born. Sam then married Missouri Haynes, a school teacher, and they remained and raised their children there.23

At his death, he had 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.202

OBITUARY
Illness Is Fatal To Mrs. Jacobs Hurt Resident (01/15/1968 entered by pen)
Mrs. Missouri (Zuc) Haymes Jacobs, wife of Samuel T. Jacobs of Hurt community, died Monday in the Altavista Nursing Home after an illness of six weeks.
A native and life-long county resident, Mrs. Jacobs was a retired school teacher and an active member of New Prospect Baptist Church at Hurt, where she taught the adult Sunday School class for many years. Her parents were the late John D. Haymes and Martha R. Haymes, who lived at Sutherlin.
Beside her husband, Mrs. Jacobs is survived by three step-daughters, Mrs. Preston Mosses of Chatham, Mrs. G. A. Almone of Union City, N. J., and Mrs. Richard Boyd of Washington, D. C.; two step-sons Roy Jacobs of Hampton and Calvin Jacobs of Columbus, N. J.; and one brother, Augustus Haymes of Bluefield, W. Va.
Funeral and burial services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at New Prospect Baptist Church.408
