He is listed in the 1860 Census as James Wright, living with his wife, "Allie Wright", her brothers and sisters, and his father-in-law Wright Holland Wright in the latter's home in Chamblissburg, Bedford Co.
Served as a Private in Company G, 34th VA Infantry from 1862 to the end of the war.
On about August 20, 1924, at Bedford Co, VA, Chancery Court File 5441, John R L Wright, James B H Wright, Eula V M Baker, and Laura B Wright, as heirs of Wright H Wright, filed their complaint against Sallie A Settles, William Marcellus Wright, Matthew F Carner, and James T Carner, as heirs of Wright H Wright, to quiet title to certain real property and to sell the real property and divide the proceeds among the heirs entitled thereto:

Your complainants, John R L Wright, James B H Wright, Eula V M Baker and Laura B Wright respectfully show unto your honor the following facts: That their father Wright H Wright, late of the County of Bedford, on or about the day of ___, in the year 1899, died seized and possessed of considerable real and personal estate, leaving surviving him a widow, Minerva Jane Wright; six children, your complainants, Sallie A Settles and Wm Marcellus Wright; two grand children, children of James S and Allie Patria Carner, (said James S and Allie Patria Carner are both deceased), the names of said grand children being Matthew F and James T Carner.
