Altavista, July 21-Mrs Virginia Short, 79, widow of W. R. Short, died at her home in Hurt July 13, from paralysis. She had been ill only a few hours.
Mrs. Short was a native of Hurt was born March 24, 1858. She was a daughter of James E. and Tabitha Shields Roark. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E. D. Simpson and Mrs. Virginia Short Berger of Hurt; six sons, E. D., J. T., A. P, and B. B. Short of Hurt; William E. Short of Belleville, N. J., and R. C. Short of Lynchburg. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. A. V. Adams of East Spencer, N. C., and three brothers, J. A. Roark of Altavista, J. B. and R. A. Roark of Hurt.
Funeral services were conducted from New Prospect Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock, by Rev. R. L. Camden, pastor of the Central Baptist Church, Atlavista. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
