OBITUARYMrs. Nolie W. Scruggs (02/07/1981 entered in pen)
Mrs. Nolie Wilson Scruggs, 72, Rt. 2, Hurt, died Saturday in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the widow of Orie Ben Scruggs.
A native of Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Wilson and Julia Dewberry Wilson. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and a member of the Altavista Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving are one son, Howard W. Scruggs, Charlotteville; one daughter, Mrs. Reid Bennett, Gretna, two brothers, Albert Wilson, Roanoke, and Leonard Wilson, Chesapeake, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted Monday by the Rev. Robert Reese at New Prospect Baptist Church with burial in the Church cemetery.

Orie Ben Scruggs, 81, of Rt. 2, Hurt, died 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Ben and Henrietta Jacobs Scruggs. He was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church and a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Nolie Wilson Scruggs, Hurt; one son Howard W. Scruggs, Charlottesville; one daughter, Mrs. Reid Bennett, Hurt; four –grandchildren.
Services were conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at the New Prospect Baptist Church by the Rev. Harold Lewis. Burial was in the church cemetery.
