Hugh Jacobs Dies at 57; Last Rites Set 2 P.M. Today (1960 entered by pen)
Hugh Dillard Jacobs, 57-year-old county farmer, died Wednesday at his home at Brutus after a long illness.
The deceased, a member of Spring Road Baptist Church, was formerly active in A.S.C. work and served as an alternated on County Committee prior to his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Foster Jacobs; four sons, Hugh Jacobs, Jr., of Lynchburg, Lloyd Jacobs, of the U.S. Air Force, Vernon Jacobs, of Gretna, and Abner Jacobs, of the U. S. Army; three daughters, Miss Shirley Jacobs and Miss Nancy Jacobs, both of Madison College, and miss Eunice Jacobs, of Gretna; two brothers, G. W. Jacobs, of Gretna, O. B. Jacobs, of Gretna; two sisters, Mrs. C. P. Rowland, of Gretna, and Mrs. Raymond Talbott, of Staunton; one half-brother, Taylor Jacobs, of Lynchburg; four half-sisters, Mrs. John Yeatts, Mrs. Nim Owen and Mrs. J. W. Mathews, all of Lynchburg, and Mrs. George Shields, of Richmond; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today from Spring Road Church with interment in Gretna Burial Park.408

Hugh Dillard Jacobs
Hugh Dillard Jacobs, 57, died at his home, Gretna, Route 4, at 1:45 p. m. Wednesday.
He was a native of Pittsylvania County, a son of the late James Aaron Jacobs and Lelia Rowles Jacobs. He was a member of Spring Road Baptist Church and a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Foster Jacobs; four sons Hugh Jacobs, Jr., of Lynchburg; Lloyd Jacobs of the U. S. Air Force; Vernon Jacobs, Gretna; and Abner Jacobs, of U. S. Army; three daughters, Miss Shirley Jacobs and Miss Nancy Jacobs, both of Madison College, and Miss Eunice Jacobs of Gretna; two brothers, G. W. Jacobs and O. B. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2 p. m. from Spring Road Church. Interment was in Gretna Burial Park.
The Revs. B. C. Durham and J. P. Griffin officiated.
Pallbearers were Bruce Rowland, C. T. Rowland, Neville Rowland, Curtis Jacobs, Clyde Jacobs and G. W. Jacobs.408
