Indictment for permitting slave to act as a free person.
Now here come as well the Circuit attorney who prosecutes on behalf of the State as the Defendant by A. V. McKee his attorney, who says he is guilty in manner and form as in said indictment against him it is alleged. The Court thereupon assess a fine against him of Twenty dollars. It is considered by the Court that State have and recover of said Bird Farmer said fine of Twenty dollars, and also the costs and charges in this behalf incurred - and that execution issue therefore

This deed is made and entered into this twenty-seventh day of March eighteen hundred and sixty-six by and between Bird Farmer of Lincoln County Missouri party of the first part, and William H. Farmer of said County and said party of the second part. Witnesseth that the said party of the first part in consideration of love and affection for a son, and the sum of one dollar to him paid by the party of the second part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged by these presents. To bargain and sell, convey and confirm to wit: the South half of the South West Quarter of Section ten, Township forty-eight, Range one East [Except for one acre sold by M. Wright to C. R. Duncan for a mill seat] containing seventy-nine acres more or less. Also fifty-three acres South of said land being W. D. Wrights part of Morgan Wrights real estate on partition. All in Lincoln County, State of Missouri. Sold subject to the conditions herein after expressed. To have and to hold the same together with all the rights, immunities, privileges and appurtenances to he same belonging to the said party of the second part and to said William H. Farmer's heirs and assigns forever; The said Bird Farmer hereby covenanting that his heirs, executors and administrators shall and will warrant and defend the title to the premises to the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims of all persons. Subject to the express condition: said party of the first part is to hold and retain possession of all said real estate herein before described. Also lately free from control in any manner by said party of the second part during his natural life; and at his death said party of the second part shall enter upon and hold said land as expressed in the above warrantee. In witness whereof the said party of the first part has hereunder set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.

D. eighteen hundred and sixty-six, before me the undersigned a clerk of the County Court, came Bird Farmer who is personally known by me to be the same person whose name is subscribed to the foregoing instrument of writing as party thereto and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purpose therein mentioned.

Now here John F. Abbott, a minor over the age of fourteen years, appears and makes choice of Bird Farmer as Guardian of his person and Curator of his Estate. The Court appoint Bird Farmer Guardian of the person and Curator of the Estate of Susan E. Abbott. Whereupon said Farmer execute bond to the State of Missouri, to use in the benefit of said Wards in the penalty of One Thousand Dollars with Casper Extins (?) and Joseph S. Sears (?) as his security, which bond is approved by the Court and is now placed on file.

On settlement with Bird Farmer Guardian of Susan E. Abbott, the Court find upon adjusting his accounts the he is indebted to said ward, in the sum of $41.23 and entitled to a credit of $41.23 leaving nothing in his hands and he is discharged.

Now here Bird Farmer, Guardian of John F. Abbott, appears and shows to the court that the said John F. Abbott has arrived at his majority, and had ordered an execution issued from the Court, for the amount due him from his said guardian, that said execution had been levied on land belonging to the said Guardian and that the same had been sold to satisfy said execution, that said execution had been fully satisfied, and that therefor he was not indebted to said ward in any amount, all of which facts being proved to the satisfaction of the Court, it is ordered, that said Guardian be finally discharged.

Bird Farmer, Deceased
I Bird Farmer of Clark Township Lincoln County Missouri being of sound mind and memory and being desirous of making a disposition of my property to my heirs before my death do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others and former wills by me made.
1st I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my executor hereinafter named out of my personal property or estate.
2nd I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Farmer a dower interest in my real estate situated in Township 48, Range (1) East in Lincoln County Missouri. Also one dollar in cash to be paid out of my personal property by my executor within one year after my death to have and to hold during her natural life.
3rd I will and give to my son Wm Hubbard all my personal property except one dollar I give to my said wife Elizabeth Farmer and after said debts and funeral expenses is paid to have together with all of my said real estate to have and hold after the death of my said wife Elizabeth Farmer forever to do with as he may feel disposed.
4th I nominate constitute and appoint William Hubbard Farmer as executor of this my last will and testament in testimony whereof I have this 9th day of July 1883. Subscribed my name and affixed my seal

Be it remembered that on this the 19th day of October 1883. Before me B. W. Wheeler Judge of the Probate Court held in and for the County and State aforesaid personally appeared James I. Williams and John C. Williams who are the subscribing witnesses to the annexed will of Bird Farmer deceased and being by one first duly sworn depose and say that the said Bird Farmer the testator subscribed the same in their presents and published and declared said will an instrument in his own writing to be his last will and testament and at the time of signing the same he states said testator was of sound and disposing mind more than twenty one years of age. And that said ____? attested said will as witnesses thereto by subscribing their names in the presence of the testator and of each other and at the request of the said testator.
