417From Throckmorton Tribune-date not shownFt. Griffin Native Rites Held at Stamford Funeral for Mrs W G Andrews, 93, Native of Fort Griffin near Albany, was held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church of Stamford.
The Rev Byron Bryant, pastor officated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery under direction of Kinney Funeral home of Stamford. Mrs Andrews and her husband helped build the church.
Mrs Andrews died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs J G Harris of San Angelo of San Angelo.
She was born May 8, 1862, at Fort Griffin. She was reared there and taught school in that community before her marriage at Throckmorton, May 25, 1887. The couple lived in Throckmorton until December, 1907, when they moved to Stamford.
Mrs Andrews was active in church and civic affairs. Her husband was a veteran West Texas jurist (attorney).
After living in Stamford for 21 years, Mrs Andrews went to live with her daughter. They lived in Sweetwater for 19 years before moving to San Angelo.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Harris of San Angelo and Mrs J P Brewingtin, Lubbock;two sons, W T Andrews of Spur and Henry G Andrews, Stamford; two sisters, Mrs W M Gaither of Throckmorton and Mrs W R Free of Albany; a brother, Will Thorp of Throckmorton; Six grand children and great-grandchildren. ......(original at Pirtle home,Throckmorton, TX)
