Franklin County was organized on December 11, 1818 (effective January 1, 1819) from St. Louis County and named for Benjamin Franklin. The county seat is Union, Missouri (ZIP 63084). | My research in Franklin County is in the towns of Catawissa, Gray Summit, New Haven, Pacific, Robertsville, St. Albans, and Union. Franklin County is located about 50 miles southwest of the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
