Jackson County was organized on December 15, 1826 from Lillard (now Lafayette) County and was named for Andrew Jackson. The county seat is Independence, Missouri; however, the Jackson County Courthouse is located at 415 E. 12th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64106. My research in Jackson County centers in Kansas City, which is located about 250 miles west of the St. Louis Metropolitan area. I have several pages of information that I have accumulated in my research and you can go to the vital statistics page (under construction) for viewing information on births, census, deaths, marriages, etc. I don't have a whole lot in this area because only one branch (2 generations) went to the Kansas City area.
