St. Louis County
	St. Louis County was organized October 1, 1812, as one of the five original counties of Missouri. It was named for St. Louis (King Louis IX of France), patron saint of King Louis XV. The county seat is located at: St. Louis County Courthouse, 7900 Carondelet, Clayton, Missouri 63105. Until August 22, 1876, St. Louis City and St. Louis County were one government entity, at which time they were reorganized under the 1875 Constitution of the State of Missouri. My research in St. Louis County is primarily in the west county area around Babler State Park. This area is located about 25 miles west of the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Wildwood, Missouri - The area now known as Wildwood encompasses the former areas (and parts of areas) of Pond, Grover, Glencoe, Pacific, Orrville, Monarch, Centaur, and other small towns and post offices that used to be the homes of my ancestors. This area is located in beautiful West St. Louis County in the Babler State Park area. I have dedicated a section to Wildwood because it is very special to me and all of the other people that I know and have come to know in carrying out the research of my ancestors. This section includes a special thank you to the people of the Wildwood Historical Society and is dedicated to my great- and great-great-grandparents. Genealogy in St. Louis is Dave Lossos' great web site with a lot of helpful links and information about research and genealogy in the St. Louis area.
