Pierce, James Samuel - born March 24, 1872 in Elyria, Ohio. Mother - Anne Gilmore/Gilmour Pierce (born in Scotland). (James parents lived in Chicago, Il until his father died in either the Chicago fire or Peshtigo fire in Oct 1871. Anne was already pregnant and probably was moved to Ohio to be with relatives until birth of child. Unknown if they were Pierce or Gilmour relatives. (Lorrie)

The Court Met On application Administration of all and Singular the goods and chattels reights and

credits which were of Thomas Pearce Sr. desc' at the time of his death is hereby granted unto

Harvey Pearce and Milton Pearce on their giving bond with Abraham Stewart and James Stewart their

Secuity in the penal sum of $800.00, Conditioned as the law directs-- Administrators Sworn

,And it is further ordered by the Court that William Copes, Richard D. George and John

White be appointed appraisors of the goods and chattels of said desc. (10)

This day Wesley Pearce aged 18 years in April last- son and heir of Thomas Pearce Sr. decs.

came into open court and chose John Wallace as his guardian; which choice was aproved

of by the Court and on Motion-Ordered by the Court that the said John Wallace be and

he is surely appointed Guardian of the said Wesley Pearce. On his entering into bond with

Harvey Pearce his security in the sum of one hundred dollars. (10)

(Margaret Pierce mentioned in this obit as wife.) LINK Obituary of WILLIAM S. TUDOR, the son of Stephen and Rachel Tudor, was born in Fayette County, Ohio, March 20, 1840, and departed this life December 9, 1910, aged Seventy years, Eight months and Ninteen days. He was twice enlisted during the Civil War, and served eighteen months as a private in Company A., Forty-eighth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and eighteen months as a Corporal in Company A., First Regiment Ohio Volunteer Calvar. He came to Indiana when a young man, and resided in Grant county since about 1870. In December, 1865, he was married to Margaret Pierce, who died in May 1874. To this union were born four children, Marie Tudor Spayde of Upland, Allen C. Tudor of Grant County, Charles A. Tudor of Iowa, and Alonzo Tudor of Matthews. In June, 1880, he was married to Lydia Ida Sheron. To this union were born two children, Grace Tudor Hall and Jesse B. Tudor, both of Marion. He was affiliated with the First Methodist Protestant Church of Marion, Indiana in 1892. He leaves to mourn their loss, six children, six grand-children, one brother, and one sister, besides a number of relatives and friends. Ohio Company Stockholders - <NEW ENGLANDERS ON THE OHIO FRONTIER - chronicle about migration to Ohio in 1802 for 41 families (settlers, not speculators) from Connecticut and Massachusetts. The McCormicks have used an unusually rich store of primary data to document the transformation of life in Ohio. Into the wilderness these settlers came with an elegant town plat which included a village green, Episcopal church, a school, and a subscription library, and within 10 years attained material culture which matched or surpassed that left in the Northeast. This case study ends in 1836 just after Worthington's incorporation.>

OTHER: (This actually goes on Iowa (IA) pages, but since it found its way here, I will put a link to here. ) OHIO TOWNSHIP <See Q. Pierce and Virginia Pierce - Oak Run Church of Friends Original Members). This township is located in the southeastern corner of the county, and takes its name from the fact that many of its early settlers were from the State of Ohio, and named their township in honor of the Buckeye land. It is bounded on the east by Warren county, on the west by Walnut township, on the south by Clarke county, and on the north by South township. The surface is drained by South river and a number of small streams. The general character of the township is that of beautiful prairie land, perfectly fitted for farming purposes. Along the streams there is a good growth of timber. Back from the streams is high, rolling prairie of the richest soil. There is a plentiful supply of water, and some of the springs in this township never freeze in winter. This township was not settled until a comparatively late day. Andrew Hart and M. S. Douglas were its first settlers. They came in 1854. They were both rebels and when the war broke out, they sold out and moved South. Noah Bishop, John Cregor, Henry Cregor, Solomon Delong, A. G. Martin, William Farson, and J. D. Hartman, also settled here at an early day. Since then the township has settled up rapidly. Good schools and churches are found in this township, and the people generally are of the best class. The following are the township officers: Justices - A. J. Fansher, John Howe; Trustees - V. McPherson, Thomas Hartman, William Scott; Constable - Moffatt Cregor; Assessor - H. H. Hollinshead; Clerk - John W. Mann. The Oak Run Church of Friends was organized May 18, 1871, with the following original members: T. C. Moorman, R. A. Moorman, Mary Hiatt, E. Hiatt, David Ellis, M. E. Ellis, Calvin Ellis, E. Ellis, William Woodward, E. Woodward, J. Simmons, E. J. Simmons, W. H. Bishop, M. Bishop, Q. Pierce and Virginia Pierce. The pastors have been John Coffin and John Woods. The present building was formerly a school-house, but was purchased by the Friends for their own use. It was dedicated to religious uses in 1877. The first Friend Quakers to settle here were: T. C. Moorman, Dosha Moorman, W. N. Moorman, Jesse Painter, Susannah Painter, T. P. Moorman, Rhoda Moorman, David and Martha Ellis.
