OBITUARY

July 1923

Annie B. WILLIAMS (BLACK)

1877 - 1923

The funeral of Mrs H. WILLIAMS, one of Peachland's most respected citizens, who passed away after a very short illness, was conducted on Thursday, Aug 2, at 2 p.m., from the Union Church. It was one of the largest funerals Peachland has witnessed, the church being filled to capacity.

The floral tribute was immense and beautiful, representing organizations in which the deceased held office, and numerous wreaths, sprays, crosses, etc., from private friends.

Rev T.A. Sadler officiated and addressed the gathering with a few well chosen remarks from the following text; "Thous shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty". -- 1st Sam., 20: verse 18, calling attention to the various seats the departed one was leaving vacant.

Being public spirited enough to take an interest in the welfare of the community and the world at large, she had taken her place first in the home, the church, the Sunday school and in the Women's Institute, and was a respected member of the school board - being in her second year.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and three sons, Robert, the eldest, who recently went down to Saskatchewan, and Edward and Lloyd residing at home. She also leaves several sisters and brothers, most of whom reside in Ontario, one sister living in Vancouver.
