Mrs Sarah Black Dies After a Brief Illness.
Death Enters Large Family Circle After Thirty Years
Absence – Mother Comes Long Distance
Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 O;clock for Mrs. Sarah BLACK, wife of Robert BLACK, of this city. Rev. R.S. Jones officiated and the church was too small to hold all those who paid the dead woman honor.
Mrs Robert BLACK whose maiden name was Sarah HEIKES, passed to her eternal rest at a Minot hospital last Saturday morning from streptacoccic bactermia induced by laratitis, after an illness of three week’s duration.
She was born in Mifflintown, PA in 1878 and would have been 50 years old on August 20th. She was sick about three weeks and suffered great pain at all times, but bore her suffering with great patience. She was a kind and indulgent mother, and beloved by all who knew her, which was shown by the wonderful floral offerings and the large attendance at her funeral. She will be much missed in the home and community, also in her attendance at Sunday School.
She is survived by her husband and a little daughter, Ethel, eight years old, three step – children, Charles, Jack and Allison; also by her mother, Mrs Elizabeth HEIKES, and six sisters and four brothers, namely, Harry of Mifflin, PA; Albert of Lewistown, PA; Mrs J.I. Riden, of Salem, Neb; Mrs James Foster, of Huntingdon, PA; also Stewart Edgar, Minnie, Etta, and Juniata of Huntingdon, PA.
Of eleven children, nineteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren, this is the first death in the past thirty years, her father having died then. Her mother and one sister, Etta, attended the funeral from Pennsylvania.
Mr and Mrs John BLACK, of Plaza, Mr Charles THOMPSON of Minto, Mrs G. LIVINGSTON, and Mr and Mrs F.B. Pond of Minot attended the funeral.
Interment was made in Wild Rose Cemetery, and the casket was born to its last resting place by members of the Masonic order, of which Mr BLACK was a member.
