1.1 John PRESBURY (c1639-1679).
1.1.1 William PRESBURY born perhaps 1664, married about 1685 to Priscilla RANDALL, the dau. of Richard RANDALL, of Cape Porpoise, now York Co., ME. Removed to Beverly, now Essex Co., MA before 1691/2, then with any number of children including son Edward. "The war sent the family to Beverly." More Information.

1.1.2 Stephen PRESBURY (c1666 - 1730).  Stephen, the son of John PRESBURY and Dorcus BESSE(Y) of Saco, now York Co., Maine, was born perhaps 1666. In 1686 a Stephen PRESBURY reportedly witnessed a deed at Kittery, Maine. In about 1693, Stephen PRESBURY was married, perhaps at Sandwich, Barnstable County, MA to Deborah SKIFFE, b. 1668 the dau. of Stephen SKIFFE, Sr. and Lydia SNOW, who were of Sandwich. Stephen PRESBURY was "of Chilmark" in 1704 [reference is to "Dukes Deeds, III, 77; comp. York Deeds, IV, 134"]. Stephen PRESBURY was a land owner at Tisbury, Edgartown, and Holmes Hole. [Reference is to Deeds, III, 114, 504; IV, 108, 217.]  At Barnstable Co., Stephen PRESBURY was plaintiff 1729 in an unknown court action. He left a will the year he died, 1730, disposing of property to 'my seven daughters' and to grandchildren [a grandchild] by dec'd son John. Deborah (Skiffe) PRESBURY survived; she dec'd 1743. At least  eight children born to Stephen and Deborah (Skiffe) PRESBURY. Both Stephen and Deborah (Skiffe) PRESBURY are buried Crossways Cemetery at Homes Hole (Tisbury MA). Although it is proposed by others that the dates of birth/ages recorded on the gravestone of Stephen Presbury and Deborah (Skiffe) PRESBURY are somehow in error, the inscriptions read as follows: More Information.

"Here lieth ye Body of Stephen Presbery died May ye 17th 1730 in ye 58th Year of his age."
"Here Lyes Buried the body of Mrs. Deborah
Presburey Decd March Ye 11th  1743 in 73D Year of Her Age."
1.1.3 Nathan PRESBURY (c16xx - xxxx). Nathan is son of John PRESBURY and Dorcus BESSE(Y) of Saco, now York Co., Maine. With his brother William, Nathan PRESTON was a minor at the time of his father's death 1679, and Major PENDLETON was appointed his guardian. From the Maine Province and Court Records, the Court of Common Pleas, 1680:
"The Court ordereth, that Nathan Praeston sonn of John Presson of Sacoe lately deceased, Now in the Costody of Major Bryan Pendleton, who hath hitherto brought him up, shall bee disposed off by the sd Pendleton for his future aeducation & bringing up, provided care bee by him for his writeing and readeing."
Separate from the above record, the Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire indicates that "In 1679 s. Nathan was ord. to remain apprent. to Maj. Pendleton who bound him in 1680 to Jos. Cross(7). As Nathan Preston he contin. with Cross' wid., then with her new husb. Nicholas Morey, at the carpenter's trade. Cape Porpus wit. 1688." "Nathaniel PRISBURY" and "Elizabeth GANSON" were married by Mr. Saml. Willard  Feb. 16. 1697 at Boston (perhaps properly Feb 16, 1697/98).  Elizabeth was b. 1669 at Salem, now Essex Co., MA, the dau. of Benjamin and Elizabeth GANSON. Elizabeth's father, Benjamin was born in England and made his living as a ship's captain. Nathan and Elizabeth (Ganson) PRESTON had children whose births were recorded at Boston. Torrey reports that Elizabeth (Ganson) Presbury m. (2) Joseph Lord. More Information.

1.1.4 John PRESBURY (c16xx - xxxx). "John, wounded at Saco 1691, lay 19 weeks under cover, seems ano. son."
