1.[1].[3].1 Mary PRESBURY (1694-c1729).  Mary PRESBURY, b. 1694, Sandwich, Barnstable Co., MA. Known in Tisbury as Mary PRESBURY, at Edgartown, seems to be Hannah PRESBURY. Mary died between 1728 - 1730. She married Thomas WEST, 1712/13, Tisbury or Edgartown, Dukes Co., MA. From diary of William Homes [Holmes], "I have heard that Thomas West died lately at Rhode Island. He had some time ago undertaken to pilot a vessel to Boston and was forced off the coast by a storm and driven to Matinico [this has been assumed to be Martinique, although it is not clear from what port the vessel had sailed] and either the fatigue of the voyage or some distemper contracted on that island he was brought so low befre he arrived at Rhode Island and not long after he came on shore he died. His friends concluded that he had been lost in the storm." Thomas designated Stephen PRESBURY, his father-in-law, as administrator of his will dated 1728; final probate of the will was made after Stephen's death in 1732.
